Irish Golfers Lose Playoff, Finish 2nd at Cambridge

The North Platte Saint Patrick’s and Perkins County golf teams shot 18 holes at Cross Creek Golf Links on Wednesday in Cambridge and ended up tied at 372 team strokes each, initiating a playoff to determine the champion. The Plainsmen would take advantage, edging the Irish 23-24 to win the title and giving St. Pat’s the runner-up plaque.

Individually it was the hometown golfer from Cambridge winning the title as Trojan Preston Carbaugh finished with a six-stroke lead over the pack ending at 71. Franklin’s Ryan Weiss was second at 77. Perkins County claimed third and fourth with Carson Thelander and Jacob Woodmancy shooting an 83 and 86 respectively. North Platte Saint Pat’s was led by Teegan Sonneman who ended up with an 88, good for fifth. Teammate Conner Hasenauer followed at seventh with an 89. Andrew Lindemeier also finished in the top 15 at 13th overall with a 96.
