A fire this morning engulfed a greenhouse at Chaser’s Greenhouse on Walker Road in North Platte. The North Platte Fire Department responded to the fire, which ended up consuming two greenhouses and burning most of the inventory inside.
Fire crews were able to put the fire out near 10 AM this morning. An investigation by North Platte Fire Marshall George Lewis concluded that the source of the fire was electrical. The primary delay in extinguishing the fire was the fire catching the plastic that covered the greenhouse Lewis said. No injuries were reported.
Traffic all morning has been blocked off by officials on Walker Road and they recommended to avoid the area for the time being.
