911 Services Restored

On September 1, 2023, at 8:29 AM, Lumen had notified the North Platte Police Department that 911 services have been restored to Public Safety Answering Points (PSAP) across Nebraska.  Many 911 centers in Nebraska were adversely impacted last evening, after a fiber cut made it impossible for 911 calls to be routed to the proper PSAP.   NPPD have tested 911 service into the North Platte 911 Center and calls are presenting properly for our service area.  However, NPPD continues to receive some misrouted calls from communities in eastern Nebraska.  Those calls are being handled by our staff and transferred to the proper 911 centers.  NPPD was in contact with Nebraska Public Service Commission 911 Director David Sankey this morning and told that the commission will continue to investigate the cause of the 911 outage.
