A Mid-Plains Community College instructor is being honored for her commitment and contributions to higher education.
Alexa McCall has been selected to receive the 2025 Excellence in Teaching Award from the National Institute for Staff and Organizational Development.
“The college is proud to be able to recognize Alexa as the NISOD recipient for this year,” said Dr. Jody Tomanek, vice president of academic affairs and NPCC. “This recognition goes to those faculty who demonstrate excellence in teaching and learning both in the classroom and outside the classroom. Alexa exemplifies what it means to receive this award.”
McCall began teaching math at Brady Public Schools in 2013. She also taught at Maxwell Public Schools from 2016-2019 before becoming a full-time math instructor at MPCC in August 2019.
Originally from Sutherland, McCall attended MPCC and played for the North Platte Community College volleyball team from 2008-09.
McCall transferred to Concordia University in Seward where she continued her volleyball career and graduated in May of 2012 with a bachelor’s degree in secondary education and an emphasis in mathematics.
She served as the assistant coach for the NPCC volleyball team in 2013 and 2014 prior to taking on her current roles as head coach and math instructor.
McCall was recently honored at a dinner and celebration during the NISOD International Conference on Teaching and Leadership Excellence in Austin, Texas.
