Divers Set for Zone Championships

Four Husker divers will compete in the NCAA Zone D Diving Championships in Houston, Texas beginning Monday. Abby Baxter, Kelsey Clairmont, Antonina Harned and Frankie Webb will represent Nebraska in the competition after posting zone-qualifying scores throughout the season.

The Zone D Diving Championships serve as a qualifier for the NCAA Championships, held March 20-23 in Athens, Ga.

Baxter has been a force for the Huskers in her freshman campaign. She posted numerous zone-qualifying scores in both the one- and three-meter, capturing seven first-place finishes along the way. Baxter posted her career best on the one meter against Iowa (320.00) and the three meter against Illinois (331.65).

In last year’s Zone D Championships, Kelsey Clairmont qualified for the NCAA Championships on the platform dive with a career-best score of 496.00. Clairmont logged eight top-three finishes this season, while earning career-bests in the one- (284.03) and three-meter dive (339.20). She’s set to compete on the three meter and platform this week.

Antonina Harned posted 13 zone-qualifying scores between the one- and three-meter this season and added 10 top-three finishes for the Huskers. The freshman from Windermere, Fla. set a career-best on the one-meter against Iowa (301.45), on the three-meter against Kansas (331.50) and on the platform at the CAMO International Invitational (196.70).

Frankie Webb grabbed a runner-up finish on the three meter against Illinois to set a career-best and earn a zone-qualifying score (295.73).

On Monday, Harned and Baxter will compete on the one meter beginning at 11:45 a.m. (CT). They will join Webb and Clairmont on the three meter on Tuesday. On Wednesday, Clairmont will compete on the platform.

In Zone D, the top 11 divers in the one-meter and the top nine divers on the three-meter and platform will punch their tickets to the championships.
