Huskers Set Personal Bests at Big Fives

The No. 23 Nebraska women’s gymnastics team saw three career highs and placed fourth out of five teams with a 195.725 team score at the Big Fives meet in College Park, Pa., on Friday evening.

Csenge Bácskay tied her career-high 9.850 on bars, Whitney Jencks notched a 9.850 on floor to tie her personal best, and Halle Rourke tied her career high on floor with a 9.900. Bácskay tied for third in the all-around competition with a 39.325.

No. 8 Michigan State finished first (197.275), No. 14 Ohio State was second (197.000), No. 15 Minnesota placed third (196.900), No. 23 Nebraska was fourth (195.725) and Rutgers rounded out the field (195.275).

Rotation One

The Huskers kicked off Big Fives on bars, scoring a 49.175 as a team. Spence, Bácskay and Simpton all led NU with a 9.850 – Bácskay’s tied her career high and Simpton’s tied her season high. Whitney Jencks notched a 9.825, while Clara Colombo earned a 9.800. Kinsey Davis rounded out the lineup with an 8.900.

Rotation Two

The Big Red continued the night on beam and scored a 48.100 as a team. Bácskay and Sophia McClelland both registered a 9.800 to lead the team, while Allie Gard followed them with a 9.700. Isabel Sikon (9.475), Ayzhia Hall (9.325) and Spence (9.000) finished out the rotation.

Rotation Three

Nebraska scored an impressive 49.375 on the floor, with Halle Rourke leading the way with a 9.900 that tied her career high. Bácskay, Spence and Martina Comin all posted a 9.875, and Whitney Jencks tied her career high with a 9.850. McClelland rounded out the lineup with a 9.775.

Rotation Four

The Huskers concluded the meet on vault, recording a 49.075 as a team. Comin and Spence each earned a 9.850 to lead the team, while Hall and Bácskay followed them with a 9.800. Sikon and Davis rounded out the rotation, both with a 9.775.

Up Next

The Huskers will return home to face North Carolina, Southeast Missouri State and Illinois State on March 3. The meet will take place at the Bob Devaney Sports Center at 1 p.m. (CT) and will be streamed on B1G+.
