LINCOLN, Neb. – The Nebraska beach volleyball team improved to 3-0 on the season with a pair of wins on Friday at the Hawks Championship Center.
Nebraska started the day off with a 5-0 win over McKendree and finished the day with a 5-0 win against Park. In between the Husker victories, McKendree topped Park, 3-2.
In the morning win over McKendree, all six Husker pairs won in straight sets. In the evening win against Park, three matches went the distance with the Huskers prevailing in all three.
Ally Batenhorst and Bergen Reilly went 2-0 on the day, winning 21-11, 21-12 against McKendree and 21-17, 18-21, 15-11 against Park playing as NU’s No. 2 pair.
Lindsay Krause and Lexi Rodriguez were 21-12, 21-18 winners as NU’s No. 1 pair against McKendree, and swept their exhibition match against Park to end the night, 21-4, 21-15.
The rest of the Husker pairs were shuffled between matches. Merritt Beason and Harper Murray played together against McKendree and won 21-6, 21-15. Laney Choboy and Skyler Pierce were 21-13, 21-7 winners, and Maisie Boesiger and Andi Jackson won 21-11, 21-8. In the exhibition, Kyla Kenney and Olivia Mauch defeated McKendree’s pair, 21-12, 21-10.
Against Park, Choboy and Murray played as NU’s top pair and won 21-14, 21-12. Beason teamed up with Jackson at No. 3 and won 21-15, 18-21, 15-10. The two freshmen, Mauch and Pierce, won their No. 4 match, 21-16, 17-21, 15-8, and Maisie Boesiger and Kyla Kenney finished off the sweep, 21-15, 21-13.
