Huskers Ready for Sprouts Farmers Market Collegiate Quad

The No. 16 Nebraska women’s gymnastics team is set to compete in the first annual, ESPN Events-hosted Sprouts Farmers Market Collegiate Quad meet this weekend. The meet is slated to start at 8 p.m. (CT) / 7 p.m. (MT) on Friday, Jan. 12. It will be televised on the ACC Network and will take place at the Maverik Arena in West Valley City, Utah.

The Huskers will face off against Arizona, who has not competed yet this season, along with No. 28 Boise State and No. 33 North Carolina.

Last Time Out

In Nebraska’s last meet against Iowa State, it defeated the Cyclones by a score of 196.125-195.825. The Big Red’s team score is the highest debut score since 2014. That score also ranks 16th amongst teams that competed, and above Michigan’s score (195.875). The Wolverines were picked first in the Big Ten preseason poll.

The Huskers’ team score on floor was a 49.350, which ranks sixth in the country.

Emma Spence and Kinsey Davis tied for the bars title, both posting scores of 9.875. Spence also claimed a share of the floor title with a score of 9.900. Olympic qualifier Csenge Bácskay made her floor debut and scored a 9.850.

Scouting the Competition

Arizona

Nebraska and Arizona have competed 16 times, with the Huskers holding a 21-15 advantage in the series. The last time the two faced off in 2017, NU came out with a 196.525-195.500 victory. The Wildcats were ranked 22nd in the WCGA preseason poll and have eight seniors on their roster.

Boise State

The Broncos opened their season with a 197.300-194.350 loss to No. 4 Utah in Salt Lake City. They are currently ranked No. 28 in team score. The Huskers lead the series 9-0. The last time the two teams met was in 2017, when the Big Red grabbed a 196.625-196.150 win.

North Carolina

The last time Nebraska clashed with North Carolina was in 2010, when NU won, 195.000-193.875. The Huskers lead the series 5-0. The Tar Heels began their season with a home quad meet. They defeated Rutgers and Utah State, but fell to No. 25 Ball State.
