Audio: NP Planning Commissioners Endorse Redevelopment Plan for Sustainable Beef, LLC

At their November meeting, members of the City of North Platte Planning Commission endorsed the redevelopment plan for Sustainable Beef, LLC. The unanimous support on the issue came after nearly three hours of public hearing, which began with President of the North Platte Area Chamber and Development Corporation Gary Person.

Numerous elected officials were in attendance at the meeting and several took time to speak during the public hearing, including longtime District 1 Lincoln County Commissioner Joe Hewgley.

District Four Lincoln County Commissioner Chris Bruns was also in attendance and took time to speak.

Not everyone in attendance spoke in favor of the project,  one of those speaking in opposition was Sophia Klein.

Numerous agriculture producers were in attendance to support the project, including Steve Wellman the Director of the Nebraska Department of Agriculture.

Steve Martin the Director of the Alliance of the Future of Agriculture in Nebraska also made the trip out west to support the project.

Chris Bousquet wit the Nebraska State Dairy Association addressed North Platte leaders during the meeting as well.

Great Plains Health CEO Mel McNea also spoke in favor of the project.

A pair of educators were in attendance at the meeting also including Mid Plains Community College President Ryan Purdy, along with North Platte Public Schools Director of Finance and Operations Stewart Simpson.

Public testimony came to its conclusion with Nebraska State Senator Mike Groene.
