Cornhusker State Games Launches Inaugural Torch Tour

LINCOLN, Neb. — In a new effort to build excitement and connect communities across the state, the Nebraska Sports Council is launching the first-ever Cornhusker State Games Torch Tour, taking place May 21–23.

The multi-day tour will bring the official torch to host cities including Grand Island, North Platte, Columbus, Fremont, and Omaha, symbolically uniting the state in celebration of sport, community, and the upcoming Games. The tour will conclude in Lincoln on Thursday, July 10 during the Cornhusker State Games Opening Night celebration in front of Pinnacle Bank Arena.

Designed to amplify awareness and generate energy heading into the Cornhusker State Games, the Torch Tour will:

  • Bring the spirit of the Games to each host community
  • Engage local partners, CVBs, and media to maximize exposure
  • Capture footage for the Opening Night feature video
  • Build momentum leading into the Games
  • Maximize reach and resources through an efficient and impactful route

The Torch Tour reflects the Nebraska Sports Council’s mission to promote healthy lifestyles and strengthen community ties through sport.
