Four Nebraska men’s gymnasts were named NCAA Regular-Season All-Americans announced the College Gymnastics Association. The gymnasts that earned the honors include Taylor Christopulos, Cooper Giles, Sam Phillips and Zac Tiderman.
Taylor Christopulos, a native of Layton, Utah, was named a regular-season All-American on floor and vault, receiving All-America honors for the fourth consecutive year. Christopulos is ranked sixth in the nation on floor (14.167 four-score avg.) and eighth overall on vault (14.65 four-score avg.). In addition to his event title on floor, the Nebraska captain garnered a Big Ten Gymnast of the Week accolade for his performance. On floor, Christopulos notched a personal record of 14.75 on floor and on vault, earning a season-best score of 14.85, both set in the meet against Army and Greenville on February 17.
Cooper Giles, a native of Lake Zurich, Ill., was named a regular-season All-American on pommel horse for the third time in his career. The senior is ranked fifth overall in the nation with a national qualifying four-score average of 14.417. The senior has collected two event titles this season, notching a personal record of 14.70 against Ohio State on March 26.
Sam Phillips, a native of Woodland Hills, Calif., was named a regular-season All-American on floor and all-around, earning All-America honors for the second time in his career. Phillips is ranked 11th in the nation on floor (14.05 four-score avg.) and fifth overall in the all-around (79.683 four-score avg.). The Nebraska captain has pocketed four event titles this season with one on parallel bars, one on high bar, and two in the all-around. Phillips put up his personal record on floor against Ohio State on March 26, and collected a season-best score in the all-around against Illinois on March 10.
Zac Tiderman, a native of Wilsonville, Ore., was named a regular-season All-American on high bar for the second consecutive year. The Huskers’ team captain is ranked eighth in the NCAA with a national qualifying four-score average of 14.017. The senior has collected two event titles on the event this season, scoring a personal and school record of 14.65 against Army and Greenville on February 17.
The Huskers will compete in the Big Ten Championships on April 4-5 for a chance at the conference title.
