Huskers Headed to Big Ten Championships

The No. 3 Nebraska men’s gymnastics team is set to travel to Champaign, Ill., for the Big Ten Championships where NU will compete for a chance at the conference title. Each of the five teams competing in the conference championships rank among the top seven in the country.
The Huskers will compete for the team title on Friday, April 5, while the top 10 individuals on each event will advance to the event individual finals on Saturday, April 6. Both sessions are set to begin at 7 p.m. (CT) and will be broadcasted live on Big Ten Network.
Last Time Out
Nebraska pocketed a share of the Big Ten Regular-Season Conference title for the first time in NU program history in the win against Ohio State in the final regular-season meet (418.200-414.500).
The Huskers collected a total of 19 personal-best scores during the meet, along with setting a new program record-high team score on pommel horse (71.70). Two Huskers walked away as event titlests, including Luke James with a personal record on floor (14.75) and Sam Phillips with a personal record on high bar (14.30).
Notably, six Husker gymnasts highlight the NCAA top 10 rankings in the nation, based on a four-score average. Christopulos sits in sixth on floor (14.167) and eighth on vault (14.65), Giles in fifth on pommel horse (14.417), Cohen and Hiser tied in ninth on rings (13.883), Tiderman in tenth on vault (14.617) and eighth on high bar (14.017), and Phillips fifth overall in the all-around (79.683).
Ahead of the meet, No. 3 Nebraska highlights the team rankings in second place on floor (69.583) and high bar (68.617). NU holds third place in the nation on pommel horse (69.15), rings (68.25) and vault (72.283), based on a four-score average. The Huskers occupy eighth place on parallel bars (67.55).
Scouting the Competition
Looking ahead, No. 3 Nebraska leads the Big Ten with No. 4 Michigan following closely behind. No. 5 Illinois rounds out the top-three, sharing the 2024 Big Ten Regular-Season Conference title with Nebraska. No. 6 Ohio State and No. 7 Penn State will add to the competition over the weekend.
