The Nebraska women’s gymnastics team (11-9, 4-5 Big Ten) will travel to East Lansing, Mich., to take part in the Big Ten Championships on Saturday, March 23. The Huskers will compete in the first session of the championships, which starts at 11 a.m. (CT) at the Jenison Field House, and will be streamed on the Big Ten Network.
Last Time Out
NU concluded its regular season slate with a 198.100-197.375 loss to No. 12 Arkansas on Friday, March 15. Despite falling to the Razorbacks, the Big Red posted its highest team score of the year with its 197.375. It also posted season-high totals on vault (49.375) and beam (49.400).
Emma Spence claimed the all around title with a career-high-tying 39.650. Three Huskers – Spence, Sophia McClelland and Csenge Bácskay – all earned a share of the beam title, each notching a 9.900.
Six Nebraska athletes posted new or tied career highs – Isabel Sikon on vault (9.875) and beam (9.875), Spence in the all-around (39.650) and floor (9.950), Ayzhia Hall on vault (9.900), Whitney Jencks on floor (9.875), McClelland on floor (9.925) and Bácskay on beam (9.900).
Scouting the Competition
The Huskers will take on No. 24 Penn State, Maryland, Illinois, Iowa and Rutgers. NU has already faced all five of its opponents, and has come out victorious against all of them except Maryland.
