Huskers Host Quad Meet on Sunday

The Nebraska women’s gymnastics team will welcome North Carolina, Southeast Missouri State and Illinois State this Sunday, March 1, for a quad meet at the Bob Devaney Sports Center. It will start at 1 p.m. (CT) and will be streamed on B1G+.

Doors will open at 12 p.m. and fans can purchase tickets at https://huskers.com/tickets. Sunday will mark the Huskers’ student day. The first 100 students through the doors will get a beanie and pizza at the concession stands.

NU leads the series with each of its three opponents – 5-0 against UNC, 6-1 against SEMO and 6-0 against ISU. The Huskers competed against North Carolina at the Sprouts Farmers Market Collegiate Quad, and Nebraska claimed the matchup by a score of 195.875-195.150.

Last Time Out

The Big Red traveled to State College, Pa., to compete in the Big Fives meet against No. 8 Michigan State, No. 15 Ohio State, No. 16 Minnesota and Rutgers. Nebraska scored a 195.725 to place fourth out of five teams.

Three Husker athletes notched career highs – Csenge Bácskay on bars (9.850), Halle Rourke on floor (9.900) and Whitney Jencks on floor (9.850). Bácskay tied for third in the all-around competition with a 39.325.

Scouting the Competition

Illinois State is currently No. 38 in the Road to Nationals rankings. The Redbirds are 12-4 on the season with a 3-1 mark in the MIC. They average a 195.461 team score.

North Carolina is ranked No. 47 with an average team score of 195.050. The Tarheels own a 3-9 record and are 1-3 in the ACC.

The Redhawks of Southeast Missouri State are ranked No. 55 in this week’s Road to Nationals poll. They are 6-9-1 overall (1-3 MIC) and average a team score of 194.378.
