Huskers Ready to Face Maryland

The No. 24 Nebraska women’s gymnastics team is set to compete against the Maryland Terrapins this Saturday, Feb. 10 at the Xfinity Center in College Park, Md. The meet will start at 5 p.m. (CT) and will be streamed on B1G+.

The two teams have met 22 times total, with the Huskers owning a 16-5-1 lead in the series. In last season’s face off, NU defeated the Terrapins by a score of 196.275-195.900.

Last Time Out

The Big Red traveled to the Xtream Arena in Coralville, Iowa, to take on the Iowa Hawkeyes and came out with the 196.500-195.725 victory.

NU claimed four event titles – vault, bars, beam and all-around. Sophia McClelland competed in her first all-around meet of the season and claimed the event with a 39.250. She also won the beam title with a 9.900. Csenge Bácskay won the vault with a career-high 9.875, and Emma Spence notched a 9.900 on bars to claim that title.

Whitney Jencks set two career highs – 9.825 on bars and 9.850 on floor. Isabel Sikon set a new career high on vault with a 9.800 and tied her personal best 9.800 on beam.

Scouting the Competition

Maryland is 2-2 on the season and is currently ranked No. 28 in the Road to Nationals poll. The Terrapins average a 196.006 team score, with their highest being a 196.450 against Rutgers.

They have earned wins against West Chester and Rutgers and have lost to No. 15 Ohio State and No. 16 Minnesota. Maryland is led by Natalie Martin and Emma Silberman.
