The No. 4/5 Nebraska wrestling team (10-1, 5-1 Big Ten) will take on the Michigan Wolverines on Friday night at the Devaney Center in a Top 10 Matchup. The dual begins at 6 p.m. (CT) and will be televised nationally on BTN, with Zach Mackey and Tim Johnson on the call.
A celebration honoring the Huskers’ three seniors, Nash Hutmacher, Peyton Robb and Brandyn Van Tassell, will take place at the conclusion of competition.
No. 9 Michigan (6-3, 4-2 Big Ten) enters Friday’s dual with a recent 24-11 upset over No. 2 Iowa last weekend. The Wolverines’ projected lineup features eight wrestlers ranked inside the Top 10 of their weight class: No. 6 Michael DeAugustino (125), No. 3 Dylan Ragusin (133), No. 10 Sergio Lemley (141), No. 6 Austin Gomez (149) No. 10 Will Lewan (157), No. 10 Cameron Amine (165), No. 3 Shane Griffith (174) and No. 6 Lucas Davison (HWT).
Competition will be fierce as four of the 10 bouts potentially feature Top 15 matchups. Nine Huskers enter the weekend ranked, led by No. 1 Ridge Lovett (149), No. 3 Lenny Pinto (184), and No. 7 Brock Hardy (141) and Peyton Robb (157). This group boasts a collective 62-13 record and has scored 125 dual points for the Big Red this season.
History: Nebraska leads the all-time series against Michigan, 9-6 dating back to 1942. Most recently, the Huskers battled, but fell to the Wolverines in 2022 in Lincoln, 20-13.
Last Time Out: The Huskers used four bonus-point victories and an overtime decision to defeat the Illinois Fighting Illini 28-9 in front of 3,347 fans on Sunday afternoon.
