The No. 8 Nebraska rifle team finished in fourth place at the Patriot Rifle Conference championships on Sunday with a 4,711 aggregate score. NU shot a 2,376 in the air rifle.

No. 2 TCU finished in first (4,739), No. 6 Air Force was second (4,729) and No. 4 Alaska-Fairbanks was third (4,727). No. 8 NU finished fourth (4,711), and No. 10 Ohio State (fifth, 4,704) and No. 19 UTEP (sixth, 4,568) rounded out the field.

“I love to see the team’s consistency in air showing through,” Head Coach Mindy Miles said. “We put together a decent team score after we struggled in smallbore yesterday. We will have a couple of weeks to polish up before qualifiers. If we can maintain consistency in air and bring back our smallbore presence, we will make a good showing.”

Senior Cecelia Ossi, junior Mackenzie Strauch and sophomores Emma Rhode and Camilla Johannessen all shot a 594 for the Big Red. The tiebreaker was determined by the number of 10-point shots by each athlete, so Ossi finished 13th, Rhode was 14th, Strauch was 15th and Johannessen was 17th. Freshman Charlotte Mick (30th, 585) and senior Madelynn Erickson (32nd, 584) rounded out the lineup.

NU will have a week off before heading to its NCAA-qualifying match at Ohio State on Feb. 17. The match is slated to start at 7 a.m. (central).
