Husker Men Break Into Top Ten

Nebraska men’s track and field is ranked eighth in the third week of the USTFCCCA rankings after a big weekend at the Frank Sevigne Husker Invitational.The Husker men have posted five marks inside the top-10 nationally, while adding four all-time marks this season.After his first time competing in the heptathlon this season, Till Steinforth jumped to No. 2 in the NCAA with 6,097 points. Henry Zimmerman broke the weight throw school record for the third time this season, posting a 75-1 1/4 (22.89m) to rank fourth nationally. Kevin Shubert moved to No. 3 in the country and No. 8 all-time in the shot put on Saturday with a mark of 65-3 1/4 (19.89m). Darius Luff is tied for ninth in the 60m hurdles after his season debut 7.70 over the weekend. Micaylon Moore adds a top-ten ranking, hitting 52-3 1/4 (15.93m) in the triple jump at the Mark Colligan Memorial.The Husker men are the top-ranked Big Ten team and have six event squads ranked in the top 10 nationally, including weight throw and triple jump at No. 2, high jump at No. 6, 60m hurdles and long jump at No. 7 and shot put at No. 9.On the women’s side, Nebraska is ranked No. 2 in triple jump, No. 3 in shot put, No. 4 in long jump, No. 8 in high jump, and No. 9 in the weight throw.Nebraska is back in action this weekend at the Tyson Invitational, Feb. 9-10 in Fayetteville, Ark.
