Huskers to Host Event Celebrating National Girls and Women in Sports Day

Feb. 7, 2024 marks the 38th annual National Girls and Women’s in Sports Day, and Nebraska Athletics is hosting an event to celebrate and connect with youth from the community.

With the positive momentum and support currently surrounding women’s athletics, this event will strive to celebrate, inspire and elevate girls and women in sports.

The event will be held in the Hawks Championship Center on Wednesday from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. (CT). Doors will open at 5:45 p.m. and check in will be at the main doors of Hawks on the southwest corner. Student-athletes will be present with interactive activities related to their sports for guests to participate and interact. This event is open to all families with children grade levels K-8th. Those who wish to participate will need to RSVP at the link below.

“By participating in National Girls & Women in Sports Day, Nebraska Athletics hopes to motivate staff, student-athletes and the community to support female student-athletes and their passion for their respective sports,” Nebraska Athletics Executive Associate AD – Senior Woman Administrator Marquita Armstead said. “We hope that by highlighting this very important day, our department will be known as a leader in breaking down barriers and creating opportunities for girls to play, be involved, and develop life-long skills. Additionally, we aim to continue enhancing our support and acknowledgment for the many women who work tirelessly in the industry.”
