Huskers Set to Take on #10 Michigan

The No. 22 Nebraska women’s gymnastics team (3-2, 1-0 Big Ten) will host the No. 10 Michigan Wolverines (2-3, 1-0 Big Ten) on Saturday, Jan. 27 at 3 p.m. (CT). Action will be streamed on B1G+ and take place at the Bob Devaney Sports Center.

The meet against Michigan is the Huskers’ annual “Pepsi Pack the House.” Tickets are only $1 and can be purchased at huskers.com/tickets. Pepsi products are also only $1 at concession stands. Doors will open to fans at 2 p.m. (CT).

Saturday’s matchup will be the 63rd time the two teams have met, with the Wolverines holding a 35-26-1 edge. UM won last season’s face off, 198.000-196.275.

Last Time Out

The Big Red grabbed a 196.875-196.400 victory over the Illinois Fighting Illini in its first conference meet of the year. Husker athletes recorded seven career highs and swept the event titles.

Emma Spence notched a career-best 9.950 on vault to win the title. She also tied for the bars title with a 9.925 and won the all-around title with a 39.475. Sophia McClelland (9.950) and Ayzhia Hall (9.900) both posted career highs on beam, with McClelland winning the event title. Csenge Bácskay claimed the floor title with a season-high 9.950. She added a career-best 9.850 on bars, while Whitney Jencks earned a 9.825 on floor for her personal best.

Scouting the Competition

The Wolverines are No. 10 overall in the Road to Nationals standings and are ranked in the top 20 nationally on all four events. They are 2-3 overall and 1-0 in conference competition. Their losses came against No. 1 Oklahoma, No. 7 Kentucky and No. 14 Michigan State.

Most recently, Michigan defeated No. 11 Ohio State, 197.400-197.025. The team is led by graduate students Sierra Brooks and Gabby Wilson.
