Lincoln, Neb. – Nebraska’s Anton Shepp was selected as the Big Ten Men’s Tennis Player of the Week, announced Wednesday morning.

Shepp, a junior from Hamilton, New Zealand, joined the Huskers before the 2023-24 season as a transfer from UT-Arlington. At NU, Shepp has made a mark with his doubles success in the fall and has added a strong start in the spring season.

In his first dual competition as part of the Big Ten, Shepp went 4-0 at the team’s season opening doubleheader. Shepp won all four of his matches in straight sets, competing in the No. 1 Doubles slot and No. 2 singles for the Big Red. In singles, Shepp defeated UND’s Jerall Yasin 6-2, 6-3, and Creighton’s Kirtan Patel 6-3, 6-3. In doubles, Shepp, partnered with Nic Wiedenhorn, defeated UND’s No. 1 duo 6-0. Shepp and Wiedenhorn also took down Creighton’s No. 1 doubles team 6-3.

As a Maverick, Shepp was selected as First-Team All-WAC after the 2022-23 season, in addition to helping lead the team to the 2023 NCAA Tournament and clinching the conference championship win during singles play.

Shepp and the Huskers continue spring play with another doubleheader at home on Sunday, Jan. 21. NU will take on Omaha at 11 a.m. (CT) followed by Creighton at 5 p.m. (CT).
