One in Custody as NSP Investigates Homicide in Superior

DECEMBER 18, 2023 (SUPERIOR, NEB.)  — Investigators with the Nebraska State Patrol, with assistance from the Nuckolls County Sheriff’s Office and Superior Police Department, have arrested one person following a fatal shooting that occurred late Sunday in Superior.

At approximately 11:55 p.m. Sunday, the Nuckolls County Sheriff’s Office requested assistance from the Nebraska State Patrol in responding to a reported shooting in Superior. The incident occurred in the 1200 block of Idaho Street.

Upon arrival, sheriff’s deputies and Superior police officers located an adult female inside the residence with an apparent gunshot wound. She was transported to Brodstone Hospital in Superior where she was pronounced deceased. The suspect remained at the scene and was taken into custody.

Following preliminary investigation, investigators have determined that the shooting occurred during a domestic dispute between the two parties. There was a child in the residence at the time. The child has been placed in protective custody.

Names of those involved are being withheld at this time pending notification of the victim’s family. Additional information will be released once family notification is complete. The investigation remains ongoing.
