Huskers Look to Bounce Back Against The Citadel

The No. 4 Nebraska rifle team will travel to Charleston, S.C., this Saturday, Nov. 4 to take on The Citadel. The match is set to start at 7 a.m. (CT) and fans can follow along with live results here.

“Going to the Citadel is a quick turnaround from last weekend,” Head Coach Mindy Miles said. “The team had three days for practice. Looking to post another good score in a different location.

Last weekend, NU faced off against No. 1 West Virginia and No. 2 TCU. They faced both teams on Saturday and had a dual against the Mountaineers on Sunday.

WVU took the top spot on Saturday with a score of 4,748 and TCU took second with a 4,730. The Huskers shot a 4,699. On Sunday, Nebraska fell to West Virginia by a score of 4,732-4,722. Senior Cecelia Ossi posted a 598 in the air rifle, which ties the highest mark in school history, set last season by sophomores Emma Rhode and Tori Watts. NU’s team aggregate score is the fourth highest in program history.

The Bulldogs are 1-5 on the year with their win coming against Wofford in the season opener. The Citadel has posted an average aggregate score of 4,516.8 in its six matches,  has faced some of the top teams in the country, falling to No. 7 Georgia Southern, No. 16 Jacksonville State and No. 20 UAB among its five losses.

The Huskers are 2-3, with wins coming against No. 5 Air Force and No. 10 Ohio State and losses against No. 1 WVU and No. 2 TCU.

Following the match against The Citadel, the Huskers will travel to Morgantown, W.V., to face off against No. 1 WVU, No. 5 Air Force and No. 11 Murray State in the Fall Classic on Nov. 11 and 12.
