Nebraska cross country is set for the 2023 Big Ten Championships, hosted in Madison, Wis. on Friday, Oct. 27. Action starts on the Zimmer Championship Cross Country Course at 10:45 a.m. (CT) with the men’s 8K, followed by the women’s 6K at 11:45 a.m. (CT). Both races can be streamed live on B1G+ and live results will be available on PT Timing. The Nebraska women enter Friday’s race ranked fourth in the USTFCCCA Midwest Region Poll. Last Time OutThe Husker women are coming off a strong performance at the Platte River Rumble, where they claimed their third team title of the season. Nebraska’s first seven finishers earned spots in the top 15 and closed the meet with 27 team points. Berlyn Schutz led the pack, crossing the line first in 20:47.64. The freshman from Lincoln has won three meets this season and has been NU’s first finisher in all four meets. Ali Bainbridge, another dominant freshman, finished second at Mahoney State Park with a time of 21:04.16. Hannah Godwin (21:39.62), Taya Skelton (21:50.98) and Emma Ralston (22:12.17) provided three consecutive finishes for the Big Red, placing 7-8-9. Hayley Trotter clocked a 22:31.10 to place 14th and Lindsey Blehm took 15th with a 22:33.87.
For the men, Trevor Acton took fifth with a time of 24:42.8. Sam Kirchner (24:49.0) and Cal Puskar (24:54.2) crossed the line next for NU, finishing seventh and 11th. Jerry Jorgenson ran a 25:16.6 to place 22nd, Grant Wasserman clocked a 25:31.0 to take 26th and Colby Erdkamp finished 28th with a time of 25:31.8. The team finished second with 64 points.
