Nebraska men’s golfer Harry Crockett fired back-to-back rounds of 68 (-4) to finish with a three-round score of 209 (-7) to tie for third individually at the Everett Buick GMC Classic in Little Rock, Ark., on Tuesday.

Crockett, a junior from Oxted, England, produced six birdies along with 10 pars and a pair of bogeys in Tuesday’s final round, after carding nine birdies in Monday’s second round. Crockett’s second round was scarred only by a pair of bogeys and a triple-bogey on No. 18. After opening the tournament with a 73 (+1) in Monday’s first round, Crockett finished five strokes behind tournament champion Mark Stockdale from Central Arkansas, who closed at 204 (-12). Michigan’s Hunter Thompson took second at 207 (-9), just two shots ahead of Crockett.

Crockett’s 209 was a career best as a Husker and represented Nebraska’s best individual tournament finish of the fall. It was also NU’s best individual score relative to par so far this season.

As a team, Nebraska tied for ninth in a 15-team field, finishing at 863 (-1) over three team rounds. The Huskers were tied for eighth at 290 (+2) after Monday’s first round, but surged early in the second round, climbing into a tie for second at 10-under-par. However, several Huskers ran into trouble late on the back nine, and Nebraska closed the second round in eighth at even par 576 after a 286 (-2). The Huskers added a final-round 287 (-1) on the par-72, 7,115-yard layout at the Chenal Country Club.

Hamish Murray was Nebraska’s No. 2 finisher at even-par 216, including a final-round 72. Murray opened with a 73, before adding a 71 (-1) in Monday’s second round. The junior from Sydney, Australia tied for 33rd overall in the 84-player field.

Fifth-year senior Will Marshall tied for 38th at 218 (+2) with rounds of 71 (-1), 74 and 73, while senior Gentry Scheve tied for 46th at 220 (+4) with rounds of 73, 73 and 74.

Sophomore Quinn Yost rounded out the Nebraska contingent in Arkansas by tying for 68th at 227 (77-76-74).

No. 24 LSU surged down the stretch to claim the team title with a three-round total of 842 (-22). The Tigers fired the tournament’s best round on Tuesday with a 273 (-15), after opening with a 277 (-11) on Monday, which tied for the tournament’s second-best round.

Troy took second at 851 (-13), nine strokes back of LSU, while the hosts from Little Rock managed a third-place finish at 852 (-12). Michigan finished fourth at 853 (-11), while Louisiana rounded out the top five at 856 (-8).

Nebraska closed its fall season with a 38-35-1 head-to-head record, marking its second consecutive season under Head Coach Judd Cornell that the Big Red produced a winning fall. Prior to the last two seasons, the Huskers had not finished with a winning fall since 2012-13.

Nebraska is scheduled to return to the course for competition to open the spring season in the Battle at Briar’s Creek in South Carolina (Feb. 5-6).
