Two Arrested After Traffic Stop Leads to Meth Charges

Two people were arrested and charged with possession of methamphetamine with intent to deliver after a traffic stop on Sunday, October 15th.

North Platte Police Department officers observed a vehicle failing to stay in it’s lane and conducted a traffic stop, making contact with the driver, 34-year-old Austin Priest and passenger, 45-year-old Nikki Stevens.

During the stop a police service dog was deployed and probable cause was developed to search the vehicle. During the search, officers located a large cellophane package with just over one pound of methamphetamine inside.

Both Priest and Stevens were taken into custody without issue and incarcerated in the Lincoln County Detention Center for possession of methamphetamine with intent to deliver – 140+ grams.
