Oct. 13, 2023 (Lincoln, Neb.) — During the month of September 2023, twenty-two people were killed in traffic
crashes on Nebraska roadways, according to data collected by the Nebraska Department of Transportation.

 These 22 fatalities occurred in 21 fatal crashes.
 Six of the sixteen vehicle occupants killed were not using seatbelts, four were using a seatbelt, and
six had seatbelt usage marked as unknown.
 Fourteen of the fatalities were in rural locations*.
 There was one fatality on the interstate, thirteen on other highways, and eight on local roads.
 Two of the fatalities were bicyclists.
 Two of the fatalities were motorcyclists.
 Two of the fatalities were pedestrians.
