The North Platte chapter of the Goodfellow Shoe Fund is in the process of donating shoes to local children in the area.
2023 is the 76th year and the entire volunteer-only group receives donations and applications for needy children in the area. They then take those children to Browns Shoe Fit and The Sports Shoppe in North Platte and buys them a new pair of shoes.
Fundraising for the drive runs all year with red cans and black shoe banks in local businesses and during holidays, additional local businesses have donation cans, along with a giving tree at Gary’s and a dine out day at KFC.
If you’d like to donate to the cause, monetary donations & memorials can be sent to Box 923, North Platte, NE 69103.
Applications for the children can be picked up at North Platte Library, located at 120 West 4th Street in North Platte.
In 2022, a total of 320 pairs of shoes were donated to families in Lincoln County.
