Buffalo Bill Regional Cornhole Tourney Coming in March

(North Platte, Nebraska, February 24th, 2023) – The North Platte Area Sports Commission has teamed up with the local 308 Cornhole League and the American Cornhole League (ACL) regional director, to bring you the Buffalo Bill Regional Cornhole Tournament at the D&N Event Center. The American Cornhole League is most notable for its appearance on ESPN; however, it encourages all ages and skill levels to compete, at the level that you belong in! So, no competing against the professionals! Competition levels include: Open (for the really, really good ones), Competitive, and Intermediate (for your average back-yard players).

Friday, March 3rd at the D&N Event Center, we will kick things off with a Blind Draw Tournament – 80% payout to top players + $400 bonus prize money to the champion! Cost is $25 per person in advance to enter, or $35 for day of registration (ACL Members earn a discount on tournament fees). Registration begins at 5PM with tournament starting at 6PM. Samantha Geisler, Sports Tourism and Events Specialist with the North Platte Area Sports Commission, a division of Visit North Platte says “The Blind Draw is a unique tournament that you enter as an individual and you get randomly ‘assigned’ a partner to play with for the duration of the tournament. It’s just your luck if you get paired with a good partner, or a bad one.”

Saturday, March 4th, beginning at 9AM will start the ACL Doubles Tournament, followed by the Singles Tournaments. Registration for Doubles starts at 8am. Payouts and cost per team/person vary by competition level and division. Visit North Platte has added in some BONUS prize money for a bit of a game changer… a total of $5,000 will be added to the existing payout! “We’re expecting around 200 participants to come in from all over the region. In fact, we have blasted this tournament heavily in Eastern Nebraska, Iowa, Missouri, Kansas, Wyoming and we always get a good following of participants from the Dakota’s and our friends in Colorado,” says Geisler. “When we provide a good payout, that draws in a lot of people! Which, then, provides sports tourism dollars into our community.”

The public is invited to come out and watch. Concessions will be provided by the D&N Event Center and bar provided by Longhorn Bar in Sutherland. Many cornhole exclusive vendors will also fill the facility. For more details on the tournament, payouts, or divisions go to PlayNorthPlatte.com/ or App.IPlayACL.com or call Samantha Geisler at (308)221-6865 or sgeisler@playnorthplatte.com. These events are sponsored in part by the North Platte Area Sports Commission, a division of Visit North Platte.

The North Platte Area Sports Commission estimates that this 2-day event will bring an economic impact of $34,371.00 to the community through lodging, retail, food, and beverage purchases. The Sports Commission developed this estimate by using the Event Impact Spending Calculator developed by the Huddle Up Group, a sports tourism consulting agency.
