
The Wallace and Sutherland track teams competed at the Dundy County Stratton Invite on Tuesday, with the Sailors finishing in sixth on both sides and the Tigers right behind in seventh. Cambridge boys and Dundy County Stratton girls won the team battles.
Wallace was once again led by Micah Swedberg, who swept the 100, 200 and 400 meter dashes and coming in second in the long jump behind Wauneta-Palisade’s Dalton Harchelroad. Sutherland’s boys were led by Bennett Floyd who cleared 13 feet in pole vault, a foot ahead of second place. Teammate Jon Peterka was third at 11 feet.
On the girl’s side for area athletes, Mariah Gardner had the best finish for Wallace, coming in third in the 1600 meter run. Sutherland’s Averie Harold came in second in discus and third in shot put to lead the Sailors.
