North Platte, NE – September 26, 2025 — Community Connections invites past and present mentors, mentees, and their families to the Annual Mentoring Recognition Night Dinner on Monday, October 6th from 5:30–7:00 pm at the North Platte Senior Center.
This special evening will bring together the mentoring community to enjoy dinner, celebrate relationships, and recognize matches that have completed one year or more together—with some pairs being honored for as many as seven years. All matches, no matter where they are in their journey, are encouraged to attend.
As part of the event, Devin Alexander Photography will be present to capture professional photos of mentoring pairs. This opportunity is made possible in part through support from MENTOR Nebraska. As a Tier 1 partner with MENTOR Nebraska, Community Connections is grateful for the resources provided to elevate the visibility of mentoring across the state.
The theme of the evening will be gratitude. Research from the Center for Evidence-Based Mentoring shows that practicing gratitude strengthens relationships, supports positive youth development, and helps youth build resilience and confidence. Community Connections will highlight the role of gratitude in mentoring while honoring the youth, mentors, and families who make these connections possible.
“Mentoring is not just about two people—it’s about the families and the community that surround them,” said Angela Hipp, Mentoring Coordinator. “We want this evening to honor not only the matches themselves but also the parents and caregivers who support their child’s participation, and the mentors who step forward to invest their time and energy.”
Community Connections has been providing mentoring in Lincoln County for more than 20 years and continues to build a mentoring mindset community-wide.
Dinner will be provided, and attendees are invited to bring a dessert to share (optional).
