
Ella Rudney netted the equalizing goal, and the Nebraska soccer team tied Missouri State, 1-1, on Sunday afternoon at Barbara Hibner Stadium.
Rudney led the Huskers in shots with six, including four on goal, en route to her goal at minute 61:48. Rudney’s marks in shots and shots on goal were both career highs, while her one goal and two points tied her career bests. Today also marked Rudney’s second-straight game scoring a goal.
NU moved to 1-0-1 on the season, while the Bears went to 0-1-1.
As a team, the Big Red claimed the advantage in shots (20-10), shots on goal (9-7) and corner kicks (8-2). Ellie Felt contributed three shots, while Reagan Raabe, Sadie Waite, Carson Bohonek and Ava Makovicka all took two. Cece Villa played all 90:00 in goal and grabbed six saves to claim the tie to move to 0-0-1.
Missouri State got on the board first at 10:03 into the second half, and Rudney’s goal came less than 10 minutes later.
NU took 10 shots in the first half, including two on goal. However, behind the strong in-goal play of Villa, which included a penalty kick save, the score remained 0-0 going into the break.
With less than five minutes left in the game, Nebraska was able to get off two shots but was unable to convert the winning goal.
The Huskers are set to travel to Stillwater, Okla., to take on No. 22 Oklahoma State on Thursday, Aug. 21. The game will start at 7 p.m. (CT) and live stats can be found here.
