(North Platte, NE) – On Monday Elizabeth Tegtmeier announced her reelection campaign to represent District 7 on the Nebraska State Board of Education. Tegtmeier was first elected to the State Board of Education in November 2024. She has been elected twice by her peers to serve as President of the Nebraska State Board of Education.

Since election to the Nebraska State Board of Education, Tegtmeier has been a voice for students, families, and teachers. Tegtmeier has led the charge to address teacher shortages by streamlining the certification process for out of state teachers, increased ways for teachers to add additional endorsements, and expanded the teacher apprenticeship program.

“School districts across Nebraska have been facing challenges to fill open teaching positions,” Tegtmeier
said. “By taking steps to streamline the reciprocity process and making it easier for teachers to add endorsements to their credentials, we are helping the school districts recruit and retain good teachers for our students.”

Over the course of her term on the Board, Tegtmeier has worked to address low proficiency through the Nebraska Literacy Project and worked with priority schools to implement plans to improve student outcomes.

“We as a Board must address the proficiency for all students across Nebraska. I will continue to advocate for improved proficiency and help all students to prepare for life beyond high school,” continued Tegtmeier.

Elizabeth Tegtmeier is a certified English teacher with a Bachelor’s from University of Nebraska Lincoln and a Master’s in Curriculum and Instruction from University of Nebraska Kearney. Elizabeth was born and raised in North Platte where she and her husband are raising their family. Elizabeth is running for reelection to continue addressing student proficiency in core subjects, support local control ineducation, promote more investment in career and technical education, and identify ways to recruit and retain outstanding qualified teachers.

“Throughout my first term on the Board, I have been a solid voice for District 7 to ensure all kids are receiving a quality education preparing them for life,” said Tegtmeier. “Our children and families need a strong voice and advocate to stand up for the future of our state.”
