Due to placing replacement water mains in the 9th street project into service and higher than anticipated total coliform samples, the North Platte Water Department will conduct a Preventative Maintenance Chlorination period for the entire City of North Platte. We are anticipating that a two-to-four-week disinfection will suffice, but more sampling will be required as we move forward to determine if the disinfectant has been successful in the elimination of total coliform bacteria. No E-Coli bacteria have been detected in the water system.
Those with chlorine sensitivities or have animals with sensitivities to chlorine should take the proper precautions.
