Heavy Traffic Returns With Husker Gameday

Nebraska football returns to Memorial Stadium this Saturday evening, Sept. 6, with the season’s first home game. With fans traveling to Lincoln, the Nebraska Department of Transportation (NDOT) reminds drivers to expect an increase in traffic in and around the Lincoln area.

Drivers will need to allow more time to get to their destination due to construction in the following areas:

  • On Interstate 80, west of Lincoln from the Pleasant Dale exit (Exit 388) to Exit 399 in Lincoln. Two lanes in each direction will be open but expect congested traffic and delays.
  • NW 84th St., which will be closed over the I-80; and
  • 144th St. to L St. in Omaha, which has been reduced to two lanes.

NDOT also cautions game day drivers to watch for pedestrians and heavy traffic throughout the afternoon hours and as kickoff approaches.

NDOT reminds people to designate a sober driver or find a sober ride if their game day activities include drinking. Remember to buckle up before you leave and put the phone down. Before leaving to enjoy the game, set your route in the 511 app with your destination and place it on Tell Me for traffic updates.
