North Platte Police Arrest Texas Man in Multi-State Fraud Case

On Friday, August 23, 2025, officers with the North Platte Police Department were dispatched to Wells Fargo Bank, 315 N. Dewey Street, regarding a subject attempting to withdraw money from another person’s account.

Upon arrival, officers identified the suspect as Jiancheng Chen, 29, of Dallas, Texas.

The investigation revealed that Chen had traveled through multiple states, visiting banks and withdrawing money from victims’ accounts using information fraudulently obtained through scams. Officers seized approximately $36,000 in cash believed to be tied to fraudulent activity, along with evidence indicating connections to a criminal syndicate operating out of another state.

Chen was arrested and transported to the Lincoln County Detention Center. He was booked on the following charges:

Theft by Receiving Stolen Property $5,000+ (Class IIA Felony)

Possession of a Financial Transaction Device (four or more) (Class III Felony)

Racketeering (Class III Felony)

Criminal Impersonation $1,500–$5,000 (Class IV Felony)

Identity Theft $1,500–$5,000 (Class IV Felony)

Attempted Theft by Deception $1,500–$5,000 (Class IV Felony)

The case remains under active investigation, and the North Platte Police Department is working with additional agencies to determine the full scope of Chen’s activities.
