On Sunday, October 6, at the corner of 4th & Jeffers, North Platte will be hosting its 35th Life Chain.
Life Chain is a peaceful witness to the sanctity of all human life. This annual nationwide demonstration brings awareness to the ongoing injustice of abortion and the harm it inflicts on mother, fathers, families, and the community at large. It is a simple but powerful reminder to our fellow citizens of our duty to defend the weakest members of our society.
The very first Life Chain was held in 1987 by a small pro-life group called Please Let Me Live in Yuba City California. Every year since lives have been saved, post-abortive parents have been connected to healing, and countless individuals have been introduced to the pro-life movement. Life Chain is for many their first foray into pro-life activism. In 2023, Life Chain reached 1,600 communities in every state.
On the day of the event, those participating in Life Chain will stand on sidewalks for one hour of silence, holding the provided non-graphic signs with slogans like: “Abortion Kills Children,” “Abortion Hurts Women,” “Adoption: The Loving Option,”, and “Jesus Forgives & Heals.”
