North Platte Catholic Schools is planning on holding a Honk for Hope Car Parade for Therese McCarthy-Garth, a 5th-grade teacher at McDaid Elementary tomorrow, Wednesday April 22nd at 1:30 PM. The parade is to show McCarthy-Garth that the school is thinking of her and participants are encouraged to honk their horns and create signs in support.

McCarthy-Garth was diagnosed last fall with a secondary breast cancer, (when breast cancer cells have spread from the breast to other parts of the body) and is currently undergoing treatment.

Participants in the parade are asked to meet at 1:30 in the North Platte High School parking lot. The parade will head down 3rd Street, past Mrs. McCarthy-Garth’s house (804 West 3rd–she lives on the corner of Oak and 3rd.). Then we will turn right on Oak. She will be standing outside waiting for us. Participants must follow these rules:

  1. Everyone must stay in their cars the entire time. This includes at NP High School and at Mrs. McCarthy-Garth’s house.
  2. Do not stop in the street. Be safe. Follow all traffic laws.

Below is an interview with Pam Wood, McDaid Elementary Principal about the Honk for Hope event.
