The North Platte Chamber of Commerce and Development Corporation has secured the deed to the historic Pawnee Hotel. Dr. Ben Lashley Chairman of the Board of Directors for the chamber shared the news with local media yesterday.

As many recall this past March the chamber secured the tax certificate for the Hotel Pawnee from Lincoln based business Street Corner, who had owned the certificate since 2016. After obtaining the certificate the chamber began sending notice to lean holders of the property including Jay Mitchell an estate developer and investor from California. Mr. Mitchell has obtained his interest from First National Bank who had a deed of trust on the Pawnee. The Chamber knew from the beginning that Jay would play a very important role in the way things would develop and members of the board of directors have spent a great deal of time the past week in negotiation with him. Which concluded with the California man agreeing to purchase the chamber’s interest in the Pawnee hotel meaning he will be purchasing the title. Bill Troshynski of Brouillette Dugan and Troshynski expands.

Mr. Troshynski expands that they hope to have a purchase agreement finalized by August 1.  Gary Person has been in communication with Mr. Mitchell for the past three years and as President of the Chamber complemented the hard work that has been put in by Mr. Troshynski and Mr. Lashley along with of members of the board of directors.

Mr. Person has said that Mr. Mitchell plans to begin with giving the outside of The Hotel Pawnee a Face Lift and then begin work on the first floor and work his way up.
