The Government Shutdown could be Impacting the Purchase of Homes in Rural Communities

The latest government shutdown has shuttered the agency responsible for one of the nation’s most popular home loans in rural areas. If the shutdown continues it could become problematic for potential home owners along with realtors and bankers. Charter West Bank is the number one rural development lender in the state of Nebraska. Mortgage Loan Officer Sheree Forgue has 20 years of experience in conducting mortgage loans with Charter West.

Forgue says this type of loan is typically for those with lower income. Citizens with moderate income can conduct what is referred to as a guaranteed loan. With a guaranteed loan, Charter West Bank will conduct the official approval however after receiving approval, the loan must be sent off.

Forgue says the rural development loans that they have in process are currently sitting on hold waiting for the government to open back up.  She says there are a few positives to the government shutdown occurring at the start of a calendar year.

Charter West Bank has several locations spread throughout Nebraska including a location in McCook. According to Forgue, rural development loans can be applied in rural areas and small towns such as Hershey and others.
