Symphony to Perform Familiar Pieces From Shakespeare to Mickey Mouse

The Sandhills Symphony Orchestra have a performance scheduled for three o’clock,  Sunday March thirteenth, at the North Platte High School performance arts theatre. Director Carmen Allen leads this years performance with costumed actors performing soliloquies from Shakespeare plays. She says many modern sounds are from classical pieces but people don’t recognize the sounds, a second portion of the concert entails audience participation. Many cartoons, television and advertisements have classical music, the audience will have a chance to answer quizzes on the music the symphony will perform.  The musicians in the Sandhills Symphony are from the central Nebraska area, some from smaller communities others live on farms or ranches. The ages range from eighteen to eighty and there is no age limit for participants in the symphony, school students, business people, doctors, and people from various backgrounds participate with the symphony.  Every year the Sandhills Symphony orchestra puts on a spring performance, free to the public and at a convenient time for  attendants. Last year was an anniversary for William Shakespeare’s death
