April 1, 2026 (North Platte, Neb.) — Weather permitting, work will begin April 6 on Interstate 80 (I-80), from reference post 150.96 to reference post 161.00, according to the Nebraska Department of Transportation.
Werner Construction Inc. of Hastings is the contractor for this project. Work includes bridge work, concrete pavement repair, asphalt milling, and asphalt overlay. Interstate traffic will be maintained with temporary lane closures. A 12-foot width restriction will be in effect. Anticipated completion is summer 2026.
The purpose of this project is to preserve the transportation assets, improve the reliability of the transportation system and perpetuate the mobility of the traveling public.
Motorists are reminded to drive cautiously in and near work zones, to buckle up, and put phones down.
