Knights Unable to Hold off Broncos in Doubleheader Losses

North Platte, Neb. – The North Platte Community College softball team suffered a pair of losses to Hastings College JV in Monday’s doubleheader.

Hastings JV 14 North Platte 13

The Broncos struck first with two runs in the first and added four more in the second.

North Platte answered with four runs in the bottom of the second, highlighted by a Heaven Hutchison triple that drove in three. They added another in the third to make it 6-5.

Hastings responded with six more runs before the Knights rallied with a five-run sixth. The Broncos tacked on two late runs, and although the Knights pulled within one, they couldn’t complete the comeback.

Danica Unger started in the circle for the Knights, pitching 3.1 innings. She allowed seven hits and six runs (one earned) while striking out three and walking two.

The Broncos opened with four runs in the first, but North Platte answered with two home runs in the bottom half to tie the game.

Hastings added one run before the Knights put up four more to close the second inning.

North Platte built an 11-6 lead, but the Broncos surged back with 14 runs to secure the win.

Areliana Bravo started in the circle, pitching four innings. She allowed 14 hits and 13 runs while striking out one and walking two.
