Las Vegas, N.M. – The North Platte Community College softball team fell in both games of a doubleheader against Luna Community College on Sunday.

North Platte opened the scoring in the first inning when Alieze Moreno singled to bring home Nayely Duran. Luna evened the score in the second inning before the Knights regained a brief lead in the third on a sacrifice bunt by Heaven Hutchison.
Luna responded with a six-run third inning, highlighted by a three-run home run to center field, to take control of the game. Both teams added one run before closing the contest.
Areliana Bravo pitched all six innings for North Platte, allowing 11 hits and eight runs (seven earned). She recorded four strikeouts and two walks.

Luna maintained its momentum in the second game, plating a run in the first inning and following with a solo home run in the second. The Rough Riders extended their lead with four runs in the third inning and closed out the game with four more runs in the fourth.
Danica Unger started in the circle for North Platte, pitching three innings. She allowed six hits and six runs while recording two strikeouts and two walks.
North Platte (2-16) will travel to Sterling, Colorado to continue Region 9 play against Northeastern Junior College on Friday. First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m.
