Fremont, NE – Former Senator Lynne Walz, who is exploring a run for Nebraska Governor, issued the following statement in response to Mike Foley’s report revealing a $2.5 million no-bid bioeconomy contract awarded by Governor Jim Pillen.
“Nebraskans expect a government that works for the people — not one that bypasses rules,” said Walz. “The state auditor’s report raises serious concerns about favoritism, indicating the governor’s office awarded a large consulting contract without following the transparent process required by Nebraska law. The people of our state have a right to know their tax dollars are being responsibly spent.”
“Economic development is absolutely vital to the state, but the process must be honest and transparent. Just as Nebraskans are expected to be honest and trustworthy, we should expect the same from our government.”
