
Lincoln- Nebraska men’s basketball used a strong second half to roll past the New Hampshire Wildcats 86-55 Tuesday night at Pinnacle Bank Arena to round out a perfect non-conference slate.
Nebraska got out to a quick start at home on Tuesday night, opening the game up 7-0 against the New Hampshire Wildcats.
The Wildcats found their stride from beyond the arc, knocking down five of their first eight to take a 23-18 lead with 10 minutes to go in the first half.
Braden Frager tried to get things going for the Huskers, connecting on a layup that sparked a 6-0 run with a pair of layups from Pryce Sandfort to regain the lead at 26-25 with 7:20 to go in the first period.
New Hampshire and Nebraska went back and forth to end the half. Buyuktuncel and Sandfort both went into the break with double digit points, helping Nebraska hold a narrow 41-38 lead over the Wildcats.
The Huskers stepped on the gas in the second half, with Sandfort powering a 19-1 run to take a 64-43 lead with 10:41 to play.
Sandfort, the junior from Waukee, Iowa, led all scorers tonight with 19 points to go along with seven rebounds and two steals.
Frager helped the Big Red continue to surge scoring seven points during a 12-0 run, increasing the advantage to 76-47 with 5:23 to play in the contest.
Senior forward, Ugnius Jarusevicius, saw his first action of the year after rehabbing an injury. The transfer from Central Michigan scored seven points and recorded two rebounds and two blocks.
The Huskers continue the homestand on Friday, when they host Michigan State. Tipoff for the sold-out contest is set for 8 p.m., and the game will be broadcast on Peacock. and can be heard across the Huskers Radio Network.
