OGALLALA, NE — Lake Mac Casino Resort & Racetrack on Friday received licensing approval from the Nebraska Racing and Gaming Commission (NRGC), clearing the way for the property’s grand opening on Tuesday, August 19.
The temporary facility, located just off I-80 in Ogallala, Nebraska will feature over 300 slot machines and electronic table games, a 5/8-mile Quarter Horse racetrack, ELITE Sportsbook retail and kiosk-based sports betting, a simulcast area, and the Draft Day Sports Lounge.

The opening marks the return of Quarter Horse racing to Nebraska.

The opening celebration on August 19 will include free grand opening t-shirts for the first 1,000 guests, a new member signup promotion and a Bring A Friend bonus. Gates will open at 1 PM with a ribbon cutting ceremony at 2 PM and the first Quarter Horse race at 3 PM. The casino opens at approximately 4 PM following the race.
A complimentary meal will be served next to the brand new 5/8-mile racetrack from 1 PM – 2 PM catered by Ole’s Big Game Steakhouse & Lounge.
The opening day also features live entertainment in the casino by Drew Phillips from 4 PM – 8 PM, and Dave Lerbakken from 8:30 PM – 12:30 AM.
Lake Mac Casino Resort & Racetrack is operated in partnership with Hastings Exposition and Racing. Long-term plans include expansion into a full resort complex featuring expanded gaming, a hotel with indoor/outdoor pool, Ruthie’s Steak & Seafood, casual dining, and RV accommodations.
