
Valentine, Nebraska – Niobrara National Scenic River is thrilled to announce the participation of renowned storyteller and musician Chris Sayre during the upcoming Nebraska Star Party on July 24, 2025. Sayre will deliver two captivating presentations at the Niobrara National Scenic River Visitor Center, scheduled for 2 p.m. and 6 p.m.
The afternoon session, aimed specifically at youth, will focus on engaging hands-on musical activities designed to inspire young minds. In the evening, attendees can enjoy an enriching musical program where Sayre will showcase his diverse array of instruments, sharing enchanting stories about their origins and the songs he performs.
This event is made possible through the generous sponsorship of the Valentine Area Arts Council, with additional support from Humanities Nebraska, both of which are committed to enhancing the cultural landscape of the region. The Valentine Area Arts Council works tirelessly to bring unique artistic experiences to our community, while Humanities Nebraska aims to present enriching opportunities that illuminate the rich tapestry of our state’s heritage.

Chris Sayre, a native of Lincoln, has graced stages with his folk music for over 40 years, passionately championing the preservation of traditional folk music rooted in Western European and North American traditions. His accolades include being named Folk Artist of the Year three times, Entertainer of the Year, and Hall of Fame recipient, along with multiple first-place finishes in regional contests. Sayre’s expertise spans several instruments, including the Button Accordion, Concertina, Dulcimer, Guitar, Mandolin, and even the saw, all delivered with an aim to enrich his audience’s understanding of cultural roots and musical heritage.
