
The Nebraska men’s golf team will round out the fall season with a trip to Arkansas for the Everett Buick GMC Classic hosted by Little Rock.
Following a practice round on Sunday, teams will tee off Monday, Oct. 16 with an 8:30 a.m. (CT) shotgun start at the Chenal Country Club (par-72, 7,115 yards).
The 15-team field will play two rounds on Monday before concluding the tournament with the final round on Tuesday, Oct. 17 with another shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. (CT).
Eight schools in the tournament field were ranked among the top 100 in the Golfweek/Sagarin Rankings (Oct. 5), led by No. 24 LSU. The hosts from Little Rock were next at No. 70, while Nebraska’s Big Ten counterpart Michigan came in at No. 80. Colorado State (82), Ball State (85), Nebraska (87), Oral Roberts (94) and Louisiana (96), complete the list of top-100 teams in the strong field in Arkansas. All 15 teams, including 2023 NCAA Regional qualifier Northern Colorado (178), are ranked in the top 180 among the 306 NCAA Division I teams in men’s college golf.
Nebraska is coming off its best performance of the fall with a fifth-place finish (855) at the Purdue Fall Invitational (Oct. 9-10).
Four Huskers finished in the top 25 individually at the Ackerman-Allen Course in West Lafayette, Ind., led by Harry Crockett’s 12th-place finish at even-par 213. Quinn Yost and Hamish Murray tied for 17th at 214 (+1), while Gentry Scheve tied for 21st at 215 (+2).
Those four Huskers along with senior Reed Malleck will again occupy the five spots in the Nebraska lineup in Arkansas.

Huskers Take Fifth at Purdue
Four Huskers produced top-25 individual performances to power the Nebraska men’s golf team to a fifth-place finish in a 15-team field at the Purdue Fall Invitational (Oct. 9-10).
The Big Red finished with a season-best, three-round team total of 855 (+3), just two strokes back of No. 9 Illinois, which tied for third at 853 (+1) with No. 79 VCU. The hosts from No. 40 Purdue claimed the team title after firing a tournament-best 275 (-9) in the final round. The Boilermakers finished at 842 (-10) to secure a one-shot win over No. 84 Illinois State at 843 (-9).
The No. 87 Huskers, who continue to climb in the national standings, finished three shots ahead of No. 54 UNLV and nine strokes in front of No. 85 Ball State among the seven top-100 teams in the tournament field.
Harry Crockett, a junior from Oxted, England, wrapped up his best tournament of the season with a final-round 71 to close at even-par 213 to tie for 12th in the tournament after an opening-round 70 (-1) and a second-round 72. Crockett’s effort came on a par-71, 7,275-yard layout at the Ackerman-Allen Golf Course.
Sophomore Quinn Yost (Farmington, N.M.) and junior Hamish Murray (Sydney, Australia) finished right behind Crockett with one-over-par scores of 214 to tie for 17th.
Murray matched Crockett for Nebraska’s best final-round score with a 71, to follow his rounds of 73 and 70 on opening day. Yost, who fired a 68 (-3) in the second round, added a final-round 72 to close another impressive tournament.
Senior Gentry Scheve (Emporia, Kan.) rounded out the four Huskers in the top 25 by tying for 21st overall at 215.
Fellow senior Reed Malleck (York, Neb.) completed the Husker contingent at 222 (+9) in a tie for 54th.
Murray Opens Nebraska Career with Three Top 20 Finishes
Hamish Murray continued the impressive start to his NCAA Division I career at Nebraska by notching his third straight top-20 finish for the Huskers at the Purdue Fall Invitational (Oct. 9-10).
The junior from Sydney, Australia, who transferred to Nebraska after spending his first two collegiate seasons at NCAA Division II Cameron University in Oklahoma, made his Big Red debut with a tie for ninth at the Bearcat Invitational (Sept. 18-19). His three-round score of 211 (-2) on a par-71, 7,279-yard layout at the Coldstream Country Club in Cincinnati helped him match NU’s top finish of the fall.
Murray produced a tie for 19th with a 215 (-1) at the Badger Invitational in Wisconsin (Oct. 1-3), before tying for 19th at Purdue with a 214 (+1).
Through nine rounds, Murray carries Nebraska’s second-best stroke average at 71.11, an average of -0.22 below par per round.
Murray was ranked among the top 50 golfers in NCAA Division II by Golfstat in 2022-23 and was the Cameron Athlete of the Year across all sports.
Sophomore Yost Emerging for Huskers
Quinn Yost made the most of his season debut for the Huskers at the Badger Invitational by carding a career-best 212 (-4) over three rounds in Wisconsin (Oct. 1-3).
The sophomore from Farmington, N.M., smashed his previous collegiate best by 10 strokes on his way to his first career top-10 finish with a tie for ninth in a 90-golfer field.
Yost opened the Badger Invitational by matching his then-career best with a 69 (-3) on the par-72, 7,271-yard layout at the University Ridge Golf Club. He added an even-par 72 in the second round, before closing with a 71 (-1) in the final round. Yost helped the Huskers to a sixth-place finish in an 18-team field in Wisconsin.
He continued his strong play with a second consecutive top-20 finish by tying teammate Hamish Murray for 17th at the Purdue Fall Invitational (Oct. 9-10). Playing out of the top spot in the Husker lineup, Yost followed an opening-round 74 with a career-best 68 (-3) in the second round. He finished with a three-round score of 214 (+1) to help the Huskers to a season-best fifth-place finish in a strong 15-team field.
Through six fall rounds, Yost owns a team-best 71.00 stroke average with a -0.50 below par per round.
Husker Trio Among Big Ten Golfers to Watch
Gentry Scheve, Will Marshall and Harry Crockett represented Nebraska among the 2023-24 Big Ten Preseason Men’s Golfers to Watch.
Nebraska’s most experienced returning golfer, Will Marshall (Elburn, Ill.) is back for his fifth season as a Husker. Marshall led Nebraska with five top-25 finishes and a 73.68 stroke average last season.
Marshall competed in Nebraska’s first three tournaments to open 2023-24 and posted a 73.44 stroke average.
Junior Harry Crockett set a school record with a 71.82 stroke average over 11 fall rounds in 2022-23. Crockett, a two-time NJCAA All-American at Hutchinson (Kan.) Community College, did not compete for the Huskers during the spring.
He has earned a spot in the Nebraska lineup at every tournament this fall and carries a 72.50 stroke average over 12 rounds. He led the Huskers with a season-best 12th-place finish at the Purdue Fall Invitational and earned the top spot in the Nebraska lineup heading to the Everett Buick GMC Classic in Little Rock (Oct. 16-17).
Scheve finished 2022-23 as Nebraska’s hottest golfer and continued to build momentum in the summer of 2023 by qualifying for the U.S. Amateur Championship. He added Nebraska’s best performance at the season-opening Visit Knoxville Collegiate (Sept. 8-10).
Through nine rounds this fall, Scheve carries a 71.89 stroke average. He led Nebraska with a tie for 12th at the season-opening Visit Knoxville Collegiate (Sept. 8-10), before adding a second top-25 finish with a tie for 21st at the Purdue Fall Invitational (Oct. 9-10).
