Ogallala, NE – Monday, U.S. Senator Pete Ricketts (R-NE) joined Secretary of Agriculture Brooke Rollins, Governor Jim Pillen, Senator Deb Fischer, Representative Adrian Smith, and other officials in meeting with farmers and ranchers in Ogallala.  Senator Ricketts released the following statement after witnessing the fire damage and leading a community briefing on recovery resources.

“When we face disasters, Nebraskans stick together.  I want to thank our first responders, community volunteers, and everyone who is lending a hand to Nebraskans impacted by these fires.  These partnerships and support make Nebraska the best place in the world.

“For all the folks who have been impacted by the fires, now is the time to document damage and apply to recovery assistance programs.  These programs, like the USDA’s Farm Service Agency Disaster Assistance Program, are here to support you.  You deserve this assistance.  Secretary Rollins is committed to helping Nebraskans recover.  We will work together to get through this.”
